You wouldn't necessarily expect a custom leather sandal company to be located in Pleasantville, Iowa. After all, Iowa doesn't enjoy a year-round temperate climate. However, when the owner of Saving Grace Enterprises, Inc. went looking for the perfect pair of leather sandals - only to be terribly disappointed in the selection of comfortable and fashionable leather sandals that didn't fit her feet well, and definitely didn't make her feet feel natural, she decided to take matters into her own hands.

Drawing on her knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and with a pool of Saving Grace Enterprises, Inc. customers who were interested in testing her ideas, she developed a process by which each custom leather sandal was fitted, individually, to her customer's feet, one at a time, to produce the best fit possible for each foot.

Our customers quickly spread the word to the family, friends, and co-workers about this new method of creating beautiful custom leather sandals. This provided us with an increasing number of people who were willing to patiently work with us - giving us all their feedback (both positive, and yes, some negative), so that we could perfect our custom leather sandal fitting and construction process.

Of course, this growing population of people who were tired of poor fitting and poor quality leather sandals created a new obstacle for our owner, tech team, and artists...and that was....how do we accomodate the many requests across the country for Better than Barefoot custom leather sandals? To this point, we were custom fitting all custom leather sandals in our studios - in person - with each customer's feet at our fingertips. But, to provide the same excellent fit for someone thousands of miles away created a special and unique challenge.

We started our search for the perfect method to make a replica of each foot that we could use for our custom fitting process - no matter where those feet may be in the world. After many, many months of testing various methods - some good and some, well, not so good - we finally found the perfect, no-mess way to get exactly what we needed to custom fit your custom leather sandal to your actual foot.

Today, we still offer custom fittings by appointment for our custom leather sandals in our studios. But, after a long process of trial and error, we can now offer you the same custom fitting without you paying for airfare (and suffering the potential pitfalls of air travel) to visit or studios in person!

As we mentioned, it's taken some time to get here. We've been very fortunate to have some excellent local & regional customers who have been excited to help us refine our exclusive custom barefit kit. And, now, after all this time, we are so happy to introduce Better than Barefoot sandals to you.
